The Tsumuki Medaka (Hikari Fin)—frequently is an elegant Japanese designer ricefish variety.
Key Visual & Genetic Traits
The body features a dense, pearlescent weave of fine silver and pale gold Lame scales overlaid across a translucent white/cream base.
Carrying the Hikari body mutation, the dorsal (top) fin is modified to mirror the wide shape and length of the anal (bottom) fin.
The tail fin spreads into a distinct, symmetrical diamond or fan shape instead of a standard rounded wedge.
The Hikari trait transfers reflective abdominal guanine along the spine, creating a continuous glowing silver-white strip down its back.
Direct overhead light reflects off the continuous back streak and silk-like Lame scales.
Because it carries the Hikari Fin body structure, the large, mirror-matched dorsal and anal fins make it equally stunning when viewed from the side in glass aquariums.
Pair with a dark substrate and clear overhead lighting to enhance the silvery, silk-like contrast of the scales.
